If you’ve ever tried to get an accurate flow reading on a line carrying cement slurry, ore slurry, or gypsum, you already know the problem: standard flow meters weren’t built for it. Solid particulates generate sharp wave noise that throws off conventional measurement, leaving operators with numbers they can’t fully trust — and decisions made on guesswork.
Why Slurry Breaks Ordinary Flow Meters
Mining, cement, paper pulp, and mineral processing operations all move fluids that are anything but clean. Slurry concentrations can reach as high as 55%, and standard electromagnetic flow meters simply aren’t designed to filter out the interference that solid particles create in the signal. The result is inaccurate totals, unreliable process control, and — over time — real money lost to poor measurement.
Purpose-Built for Viscous, Abrasive Media
The Slurry Electromagnetic Flow Meter in our range is engineered specifically for this problem. It uses square wave excitation at a high 25 Hz/30 Hz frequency — a special converter design that eliminates the sharp wave noise generated by solid particles, so you get an accurate reading even in heavily concentrated, viscous flows.
Where it’s already proven itself:
- Oil field operations
- Ore slurry lines
- Paper pulp processing
- Gypsum slurry
- Cement slurry
Built to Spec, Not Just to Size
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all product. The range covers DN3 to DN3000 (1/8″ to 120″), with liner materials selected to match what’s actually flowing through the pipe — from PTFE and PFA for aggressive chemical resistance, to polyurethane and hard rubber for abrasion-heavy slurries, to ceramic where high temperature and vacuum resistance are the priority. Electrode materials go from standard SS316L up to Hastelloy and platinum-iridium for the most corrosive process conditions.
Every unit comes with:
- IP65 standard protection (IP68 optional for submersible remote sensors)
- RS485 MODBUS communication as standard, with HART, GPRS, and PROFIBUS available
- Three built-in totalizers — forward flow, reverse flow, and net flow
- A choice of flange, tri-clamp, wafer, thread, or insertion process connections
Accurate Measurement Is a Process Control Problem, Not Just an Instrumentation One
When your flow data is unreliable, everything downstream of it is a guess — dosing, throughput reporting, energy use, even regulatory compliance. A flow meter that’s actually built for slurry isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s the foundation for trusting the rest of your process data.
